The second release from independent publisher BookCollaborative.com is a book of images and poetry entitled EIGHTEEN 6/10/71 The Poetry of John G. Hunter III, which was compiled by the publisher’s founder Bradford G. Wheler. Not only is the poetry in this unique book splendid, but also the real life history behind the book’s creation is also quite uplifting.

John G. Hunter III was only 19 years old at the time he wrote these remarkable poems and presented his friend Bradford G. Wheler with a hand written manuscript for Wheler’s 18th birthday. Wheler treasured the poetry for many years and writes in the introduction to EIGHTEEN, “I’ve enjoyed (this book) for over 38 years since I received it on June 10, 1971.”

The book’s reader is immediately impressed by the striking and uncommon insights and wisdom in Hunter’s writing. It is rare that a 19 year old would possess the ability to make such succinct statements on the nature of love, time and relationships. His words are both sublime and meaningful.

The poems range from bittersweet to optimistic. Lines include, “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow not yet here- Time in between is mysterious and waiting” and “A memory does not fade like a picture, which as it fades- is forgotten.” The well-curated color paintings and photographs make a lovely accompaniment to the text. Two of the paintings are by the late Cazenovia artist Genevieve Redmond and several of the photographs are by Wheler.

Since the time he wrote these poems in his teens, Hunter has continued to have a remarkable life. He has his Masters Degree in International Management, has lived in Dubai for over 12 years, and is an outdoor and travel enthusiast who has climbed mountains including Mount Everest. Wheler and Hunter continue to be friends to this day.

EIGHTEEN 6/10/71 The Poetry of John G. Hunter III will make an excellent gift for those people seeking something special to give to a loved one for the holidays, or any occasion. The book is available on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and can be ordered in bookstores in the US, UK, and Canada.
